Transforming Lives Through Compassion – One Project at a Time

Our projects focus on creating better living conditions for children facing hardship.

Each initiative, from major renovations to providing essentials, is tailored to meet the unique needs of every children’s home we support.

Steinthal Children’s Home – Tulbagh

Steinthal Children’s Home in Tulbagh holds a special place in our hearts. Due to Charl’s prior involvement, it was the first children’s home we helped.

Steinthal is a large children’s home caring for 150 boys and girls aged 2 to 18, many of whom have faced severe neglect or abuse.

What We’ve Done for Them

  • We organised a Bike Pillow ride, providing new pyjamas, bedding and pillows for all 150 children.
  • The corrugated roof of the building housing the senior girls was rusted and full of holes. When it rained, water leaked into the girls’ rooms. We replaced all the broken corrugated sheets and covered the entire roof with a waterproof coating to prevent further leaks.
  • We replaced the moulded and hole-ridden bathroom ceilings.
  • We had the girls’ hostel’s interior painted in the girls’ choice of colour, creating a warm, welcoming environment.
  • We arranged a pool table donation for the senior boys, bringing fun to their recreation time.
  • We replaced the rusted and broken baths, toilets, washbasins and taps of four staff bathrooms.
  • We had a new bathroom built for the young boys next to their dorm. This prevents them from catching a cold, as they have many times before because they had to walk to a different floor for their bath.

We hold an annual Christmas party for all 150 children.

Thanks to generous support from numerous donors, each child receives a gift box (value R350+) put together specifically for them. These are filled with new clothes, sweets and toys (for the younger kids) and toiletries (for the older children).

Sean Kelly Care Centre for Multi-Sensory Disabled Children – Worcester

This centre offers specialised care for 14 children with severe multi-sensory disabilities. These children are unable to communicate and most are wheelchair-bound.

Sean Kelly Care Centre provides a safe, understanding environment that supports each child’s unique needs.

Sadly, the Government grant they receive amounts to less than 50% of their operating budget.

What We’ve Done for Them

  • Through the generous donation of a local businessman, we renovated their bathroom, transforming it to make it practical and suitable to accommodate these disabled children’s needs.
  • We replaced their old, broken kitchen cupboards with sturdy, functional ones.
  • We supplied each child with knitted beanies, warm jerseys, new shoes and duvets.
  • We replaced their worn-out floors and installed new flooring to support wheelchair mobility.
  • We replaced their old, insufficient geyser with a new, large-capacity geyser to ensure warm baths for all 14 children.

Their living space is now better equipped to support these children’s unique needs.

Brave Heart – De Doorns

Abondoned Babies

Brave Heart provides a home and lifeline for abandoned babies in the De Doorns area, providing them with housing, food, comfort and love.

The kids, from newborn to eight years old, stay with them until adoptive parents can be found or they can be placed in a children’s home.

What We’ve Done for Them

We gave them jerseys and beanies.

Children’s Home – Belhar

This home is a small haven for six children aged 12 to 18, overseen by Zelda, a devoted woman who treats each child as her own.

These children, who have all experienced neglect and abandonment, find a home here that values and nurtures them

What We’ve Done for Them

  • We replaced their broken geyser.
  • We provided cookware and essential kitchen items for everyday use.
  • Through the financial support of one of our donors, we regularly supply them with new clothes and food provisions to support their needs.

Each December, we hold a festive braai for these children and those from Eerste Rivier, creating a cherished time of community and connection.

Children’s Home – Eerste Rivier

In this home, Sandi, a caring mother-figure, looks after six children aged 2 to 14.

Despite facing hardship, thanks to this dedicated caregiver’s efforts, these children have now become a supportive, loving family.

What We’ve Done for Them

  • We replaced their black mould-covered ceilings to eliminate potential harm, creating a safer environment for the kids.
  • We provided all the kids with clothing and toys.
  • With the help of our donor mentioned above, we regularly provide bulk food provisions to support their day-to-day needs.

Ubuntu House for Babies – Goodwood

This home cares for newborns abandoned by their mothers after giving birth at Tygerberg Hospital, giving them a safe place to grow until adoptive parents can be found.

On average, they have 14-16 babies in their care, and many remain here for up to two years.

What We’ve Done for Them

From time to time, we provide them with newborn and other baby clothes we receive from donors.

Xolani Creche – Zweletemba in Worcester

During the day, the caregivers at Xolani Creche feed and care for 50 preschool children (three months to five years old) from the local community.

They provide nourishment, warmth, care and a safe environment where these kids can stay, sleep and play.

What We’ve Done for Them

  • We provided all the children with knitted beanies for warmth during winter.
  • We supplied cooking pots and pans for daily meal preparation.
  • At Christmas time, we bring the kids toys, sweets, and new clothes, bringing them joy during the festive season.

Helpende Handjies – Montagu

Through Wilma’s selfless work, up to 150 children from the local community receive nutritious meals daily.

Without her charity work, these kids could starve or, at the very least, become malnourished, as their parents are either very poor or seasonal workers who are often without any income.

Wilma also washes the clothes of some of these underprivileged kids.

What We’ve Done for Them

  • We supplied Wilma with a washing machine.
  • We gave her a microwave to aid her in meal preparation.
  • We provide regular bulk food provisions to support her efforts.
  • Wilma recently had to move from the rented house where she lived, cooked food and fed the children. Through our interactions with a generous donor, she was given a brand-new 5-room Wendy home to ensure she could continue feeding the children in a safe and stable space.

Every day, at breakfast and lunchtime, long lines of hungry children wait for a plate of food in front of Wilma’s house.

Huis Van Heerde Children’s Home – Moorreesburg

This is home to 70 children who have experienced abuse, neglect or abandonment.

Huis Van Heerde offers a safe, structured environment where these children can heal and move forward.

What We’ve Done for Them

Through the financial support of one of our donors, we upgraded the dilapidated kitchen cupboards in all six on-site homes, providing new functional and safe spaces for meal preparation and gathering.

De Nova Creche - Rawsonville

The caregivers at De Nova Creche feed and care for 24 preschool children (three months to five years old) from the local community.

They provide care and a safe environment where these kids can stay, sleep and play.

What We’ve Done for Them

  • We gave new blankets for each of the children in their care.
  • We also gave them toys to keep the kids occupied during their stay.

Making a Difference

To date, this foundation has made a difference, directly or indirectly, amounting to more than one million rand.

This is only the beginning; there is still much more to do.

Every contribution you make enables us to create a brighter future for these children. Your support brings warmth, joy and hope to those who need it most.
